Iranian official calls for deepening trade ties with Russia

TEHRAN, Iran, April 19. The head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization Alireza Peyman-Pak has anticipated it’s highly likely the Russia-Ukraine conflict will last for a long time and further sanctions will be imposed against Russia, Trend reports.

Alireza Peymanpak said Tehran must use this opportunity to strengthen its trade ties with Moscow.

He added that Iran and Russia signed a long-term agreement to guarantee the sustainable supply of food items such as export edible oil, wheat, and barley.

Referring to the recent visit of the Iranian delegation to Russia, Peyman-Pak said During our recent trip to Russia, over 40 meetings with the Russian side have been held with a 70-member delegation of Iran`s Trade Promotion Organization.

According to the head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization, after the agreement with the Russian side, the customs of the strategic port of Makhachkala were reopened and this will significantly increase exports to Russia.

Last week, a business meeting with a delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran was held at the Makhachkala Commercial Sea Port in Dagestan. Iran seeks to play a primary role in the import-export activities in the Dagestani port of Makhachkala. The recent meeting between Dagestan and Iran’s representatives showed mutual interest in expanding trade cooperation and transit agreement.
