BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 20. Iran's steel product imports decreased by 13 percent, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Trend reports via the statistics of the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA).

“In total, Iran imported 778,000 tons of steel products last Iranian year. The imports amounted to 897,000 tons in the preceding Iranian year,” the statistics said.

Over last Iranian year, Iran's imports of raw steel amounted to 6,000 tons, which is an increase of 20 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year. So, the figure stood at 5,000 tons in the preceding Iranian year.

According to the statistics, Iran imported 2,000 tons of billet and bloom within the mentioned period. This is a decrease of 50 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year. Meanwhile, in the preceding Iranian year, 4,000 tons billet and bloom were imported into the country.

In addition, Iran imported 4,000 tons of slab in the last Iranian year, which is an increase of 300 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year. Thus, the figure was 1,000 tons in the preceding Iranian year.

At the same time, Iran imported 87,000 tons of long steel products for the reporting period. The imports increased by 9 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year. So, 80,000 tons of long steel products were imported to the country in the preceding Iranian year.
