BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 21. The value of Iran's exports to the African countries amounted to about $1.2 billion, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022), Director General of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran’s (TPOI) Arabic-African Affairs Office Farzad Piltan told IRNA, Trend reports.

The director general stressed that the exports increased by 107 percent in value compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021).

“Meanwhile, in the preceding Iranian year, the value of Iran's exports to African countries amounted to about $579 million,” he added.

According to Piltan, Iran exported goods worth $353 million to Ghana, worth $254 million to South Africa, worth $125 million to Nigeria, worth $98 million to Mozambique, worth $77 million to Kenya, worth $73 million to Sudan, worth $67 million to Algeria, worth $55 million to Tanzania, as well as worth $28 million worth to Somalia and worth $11 million to Ethiopia over the last Iranian year.

The official also noted that Iran's exports to African countries were mainly iron ingots, steel products, urea, liquid butane, liquid propane, profiles, and some construction materials.

Piltan also said that the value of Iran's imports from the African countries amounted to about $60 million, which is a decrease of 37 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year. The countries to which Iran imports goods are Tanzania, Ghana, Ethiopia, South Africa, and Kenya, respectively.
