BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 26. Iran's pistachio exports decreased by 33 percent both in terms of value and volume, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

In total, Iran exported more than 135,000 tons of pistachios worth about $915 million to 75 countries, according to Latifi.

The spokesman added that the reasons for the decline in Iranian pistachio exports are the reduction of pistachio cultivation in the country due to the drought, and the export of pistachio from other countries to world markets.

“Over last Iranian year, Iran exported pistachios worth $199 million to China, worth $85 million to India, worth $53 million to Russia, worth $50 million to Iraq and worth $45 million to Kyrgyzstan,” he said.

In general, Iran's non-oil exports for the last Iranian year amounted to 122 million tons worth $48 billion.
