BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 3. In total, 13,700 tons of goods worth $18 million were transited through Iran’s Astara customs including all land, sea and railways in the Gilan in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2022), Director General of the Astara Customs Office Saeed Naderi told ISNA, Trend reports.

According to Naderi, transit of goods increased by 37 percent in value, while decreased by 17 percent in volume compared to the same month last Iranian year.

“Furthermore, 62,000 tons of goods worth $36.2 million were exported through the customs in the first month, which is an increase of 1 percent in value, while a decrease of 18 percent in volume compared to the same month last Iranian year,” he added.

The director general said that the exported goods were mainly agricultural, petrochemical, mining products, rubber, ceramics, milk and dairy products and etc. Most of these goods were exported to Azerbaijan.

Naderi also noted that within the 1st month of the current Iranian year, 8,576 tons of goods worth $6.79 million were imported through Iran's Astara customs. Imports decreased by 10 percent in value and 29 percent in volume compared to the same month last Iranian year.
