Iran unveils volume of fishery products breeding in farms

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 16. About 120,000 tons of fishery products will be raised at the fish farms in Iran for the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), an official of Iran Fisheries Organization Morteza Afrasiabi said, Trend reports citing the Iranian Ministry of Agriculture Jihad.

The official noted that this is about 20 percent of the total fishery products to be raised in the country this year. Thus, a total of 607,000 tons of fish and related animals will be raised in the country.

Afrasiabi added that 330,000 tons of warm-water fish, 215,000 tons of cold-water fish, 76,000 tons of other species of fish, and 2,000 tons of tilapia will be farmed in the country during the current Iranian year.

“In addition, 7,500 tons of sturgeon meat, 65 tons of caviar, 70,000 tons of shrimp, 100 tons of artemia, 295 million ornamental fish will be farmed in the country,” he said.
