Iran records significant increase in trade turnover with Tajikistan – Raisi

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. The trade turnover between Iran and Tajikistan increased four times for the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through march 20, 2021), Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

He made the remark at a joint press conference with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Tehran on May 30, 2022.

“My visit to the Tajik capital Dushanbe to attend a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) last year and the signing of memorandums of understanding between the two countries marked a turning point in trade and economic relations,” he said.

Raisi added that the documents signed between the two countries in Tehran today, mainly in the economic, trade, energy, tourism, mining and other fields, will further expand economic ties between the two countries.

The president noted that the relations between Iran and Tajikistan can be turned into regional and international relations.

On May 30, 2022, as many as 17 cooperation documents in various fields were signed between Iran and Tajikistan in Tehran.

In general, the trade turnover between Iran and Tajikistan amounted to 139,000 tons worth more than $131 million for last Iranian year, which is an increase of 453 percent in value and 489 percent in volume compared to the preceding Iranian year.
