BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 6. Iron ore production from the Sangan Iron Ore Complex in the Razavi Khorasan Province (north-eastern Iran) increased by 49 percent, during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through June 21, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports citing Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

According to the report, 5.9 million tons of iron ore were extracted from the complex within 3 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 4 million tons.

In general, 1.98 million tons of iron ore are planned to be extracted from Sangan Iron Ore Complex in the 4th month of current Iranian year (June 22 through July 22, 2022).

The Sangan Iron Ore Complex operates under the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO). There are 7 mines in the complex. The Sangan Complex is considered one of the 10 largest iron ore field in the world. The complex has 1 billion tons of iron ore reserves.
