Iran, Nigeria to eliminate double taxation

TEHRAN, Iran, July 13. Agreement for the avoidance of double taxation with respect to taxes on income and the prevention of fraud or fiscal evasion drafted by Iran and Nigeria, Director General of the Legal Office and Tax Contracts of Iranian National Tax Administration (INTA) Hossein Tajmir Riahi announced, Trend reports citing Mehr.

Referring to the four round of negotiations with Nigerian officials, Tajmir Riahi said the tax commissions of the two sides reviewed all the articles of the "Agreement for avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion of taxes” between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The aforementioned agreement is drafted, he said adding that the agreement will be implemented after being ratified by the parliaments of the two countries.

“The elimination of double taxation, the attraction of direct investment, export of technical and engineering services, further development of economic relations and expansion of bilateral tax cooperation, exchange of information, and prevent tax evasion between the two countries are among the major goals of this agreement,” said the official.
