BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 16. Iran’s non-oil exports through the customs operating under the Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran Province amounted to about 2,000 tons worth $88 million, since the beginning of the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2022 to August 16, 2022), the Director General of Imam Khomeini Airport Customs Office Abolfazl Akbarpour told reporters, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.

Akbarpour said that the exports through the mentioned customs for the reporting period increased by 17 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

The director general added that the main exported products through the airport's customs were gold jewelry, saffron and various dried fruits, and kernels. At the same time, the export of hand-woven carpets has seriously decreased.

“In addition, 10,000 tons of goods worth about $2.7 billion were imported through the mentioned customs during the reporting period, which is a decrease of 5 percent in value and 21 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he noted.

According to Akbarpour, the imported goods were mainly raw materials, manufacturing equipment and spare parts.

The customs official also pointed out that the revenues of Imam Khomeini Airport Customs Office for the mentioned period amounted to 40 trillion rials (about $952 million), which is a 147-percent increase compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“A total of 1.2 million people entered the country through Imam Khomeini airport within the mentioned period, which is 183 percent more than in the same period last Iranian year. At the same time, 1.19 million people left the country through the airport. This shows an increase of 186 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he said.
