BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 17. The amount of wheat purchased from farmers in Iran under a guarantee since the beginning of the current wheat harvesting season (started on March 24, 2022), can be considered satisfactory, Iranian Minister of Agriculture Jihad, Javad Sadatinejad said, Trend reports citing the ministry.
The minister noted that the amount of wheat purchased from farmers under a guarantee in Iran for the reporting period amounted to more than 7 million tons, and the figure is expected to exceed 7.3 million tons by the end of the current season.
Sadatinejad added that Iran's annual wheat consumption is about 9 million tons. Taking into account that there are great opportunities in Iran in this area, the country’s wheat production can be further increased by implementing a number of plans.
The price of 1 kg of wheat was set up at 115,000 rials (about $2.74) for the current Iranian year.
A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice, and other products are purchased from farmers by GTC under a guarantee in Iran.
