Iran to export citrus fruit to China

TEHRAN, Iran, August 18. Iran is exporting citrus fruit to China for the first time in the current Iranian year (started March 21,2022), said Deputy Agriculture Minister Mohammad Mehdi Boromandi, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The country annually exports about 300,000 tons of citrus fruits he said adding that citrus production is expected to increase in the current Iranian year.

China wants to purchase sweet lemon from Iran, he noted indicating that the ministry plans to increase export in the coming months.

Iran and China have recently signed two deals in the field of agriculture that would outline the hygiene and safety protocols required for the export of citrus fruits and honey from Iran to China.

Iran's garden products have reached 25.7 million while the country annually imports about 600,000 tons of tropical fruit (banana, mango, pineapple, and coconut) valued at $450 million.
