TEHRAN, Iran, August 25. The Iranian government has finalized auto import regulation, said the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Reza Fatemi Amini, Trend reports citing IRNA.
The regulation includes several articles that state the need for automotive after-sales service and transfer of technology for imported cars, he noted.
Import of second-hand vehicles is banned, he said adding that lifting the auto import ban does not mean the import of luxury cars is permitted.
The minister stressed that auto-import will not remain exclusive to automakers and any qualified individual is allowed to import cars to Iran.
According to the official, auto import regulation does not limit importers in choosing origin countries of imported vehicles.
