BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 30. Iran’s non-oil exports through the Jolfa border checkpoint in the East Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran), increased by 141 percent in value and 87 percent in volume, during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of Jolfa Customs Office Mohammad Khalili told IRNA, Trend reports.
The director general said that a total of 119,000 tons of various goods worth $66 million were exported through the Jolfa border checkpoint in 5 months.
Khalili added that the main exported goods were petroleum products, construction materials and dried fruits. The mentioned goods were mainly exported to Türkiye, Iraq and Azerbaijan.
“At the same time, 88,500 tons of goods worth about $222 million were imported through Jolfa customs over five months. The imports increased by 13 percent in value and 21 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he noted.
According to Khalili, the main imported goods were wood materials, equipment and so on, and these goods were mainly imported from Türkiye, Germany, China, South Korea, and Japan.
“Furthermore, $1.37 billion worth of goods were transited through Jolfa border checkpoint within 5 months, which is an increase of 119 percent in value compared to the same period last Iranian year,” the official pointed out.
The director general emphasized that the revenues of Jolfa Customs Office for the reporting period amounted to 5.12 trillion rials (about $122 million), which is an increase of 401 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.
