BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 20. The value of Iran's imports from 19 African countries increased by 147 percent during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

According to Latifi, Iran imported a total of 42,600 tons of goods worth $44.4 million from the mentioned African country in 5 months.

“So, Iran mainly imported goods worth $12.4 million from Tanzania, worth $9.5 million from Kenya, worth $4.57 million from the Republic of South Africa, worth $4.11 million from Congo, and worth $3.34 million from Ghana,” the spokesman said.

In total, Iran's foreign trade turnover with African countries for 5 months amounted to more than 1.35 million tons worth $741 million.
