Iran plans to increase fisheries export

TEHRAN, Iran, October 17. Iran’s Fisheries Organization plans to increase export of fisheries, head of quality control and marketing office in the Fisheries Organization Abbas Mokhtari told Trend.

The latest plan of Ministry of Agriculture’s for increase of export has been approved by the parliament and while it seems ambitious, it is achievable if necessary infrastructure is provided, he noted.

"According to the ministry’s plan, the export of fisheries will increase to 371,000 tons by the end of the current Iranian year (started March 21,2022)," he said adding, that export will continue to grow to 412,000 tons by the end of the next Iranian year (starts March 21,2023).

"Iran will increase export to 476,000 tons in 2024 and 660,000 tons in 2025," he said, adding that if so, the country's export value will grow from $554 million to $2.4 billion.

He underlined Iran’s fisheries export was 166,000 tons last Iranian year (started March 21,2021).

Iran’s export of fisheries in the first five months of the current year had a 61-percent increase in value and 29 percent increase in weight, compared to last year.

China and Russia are the main destination markets for Iran's fishery products.
