BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 18. A new copper processing plant is expected to be built in Khusf County of Iran’s South Khorasan Province (north-eastern Iran), the Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of South Khorasan Province Abbas Jorjani told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Jorjani, the construction of the plant was approved by the Iranian government. At present, work is underway in the direction of allocating the area for the construction of the plant. The plant is planned to be built near the Shadan copper-gold mine. Also, the plant is estimated to be built and put into use within 18 months after the necessary area is allocated.

“In total, 16 trillion rials (about $381 million) will be spent on the construction of the mentioned plant,” he said.

The chairman added that minerals extracted from the Shadan copper-gold mine will be processed at the plant.

Jorjani noted that currently, the exploration operations in the Shadan copper-gold mine continue. The reserves of the mine are expected to reach 100,000 tons By the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2023).
