BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 26. In total, 179 tons of bony fish were caught from the Caspian Sea in Iran’s Mazandaran Province, during 13 days (October 9 through October 22, 2022), Director General of the Iran Fisheries Organization for Mazandaran Province Ghasem Karimzadeh said, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.
“Of the mentioned volume, 62 percent was accounted for mullet, 20 percent for carp, and 17 percent for Caspian kutum,” the director general noted.
Karimzadeh added that the value of the caught bony fish was 290 billion rials (about $6.9 million).
He also noted that 50 fishing companies and about 4,000 fishermen work in the province. Fishing has a fundamental role in the income and livelihood of the population in Mazandaran Province.
