BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 1. Honey production in Iran’s Qazvin Province in the north of the country, has increased by 17 percent, from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 to December 1, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, deputy director of Qazvin Province Agriculture Department Yousef Jolokhani told IRNA, Trend reports.
The deputy director said that a total of 1,078,000 kilograms of honey were produced in the province within the mentioned period.
Jolokhani also added that 330 kilograms of royal jelly, 46,000 kilograms of beeswax, 7,700 kg of pollen and 1,285 kg of propolis were produced in the province.
At present, 456 people are engaged in beekeeping in the province and there are 147,000 bee colonies, he noted.
“In addition, 76 beekeepers from East Azerbaijan, Alborz, Tehran, Zanjan, Gilan, Mazandaran and Razavi Khorasan provinces of Iran temporarily placed their beekeeping farms into Qazvin Province, as a result of which 157 tons of honey were produced,” Jolokhani said.
