BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 14. A total of 4,000 tons of fish and related products worth $86 million were exported from Iran’s Hormozgan Province in the south of the country, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2022), head of Fisheries Department of Hormozgan Province Sasan Sadeghi said, Trend reports citing the department’s website.

According to Sadeghi, the main exported fish products were various species of fish, shrimps, etc.

The official added that the mentioned fishery products were mainly exported to countries around the Persian Gulf, Russia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and China.

He also stressed that the export of fishery products from the province is expected to increase.

As reported Iran's Hormozgan Province accounts for 25 percent of the country's fish production.

Iran farms and catches an average of more than 1.25 million tons of fish per year. Of this, about 700,000 tons are caught, and more than 550,000 tons are farmed.
