BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 23. Iron ore production from the Sangan Iron Ore Complex in the Razavi Khorasan Province (north-eastern Iran) increased by 131 percent, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through December 21, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports citing Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

According to the report, about 16.9 million tons of iron ore were extracted from the complex within 9 months.

In addition, 37.7 million tons of waste were extracted from the complex in 9 months, which is 191 percent more than last Iranian year.

At the same time, 11.5 million tons of products of the complex were sold in 9 months. The sales increased by 146 percent compared to last Iranian year.

The Sangan Iron Ore Complex operates under the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO). There are 7 mines in the complex. The Sangan Complex is considered one of the 10 largest iron ore fields in the world. The complex has 1 billion tons of iron ore reserves.
