BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 26. Iran's raw steel production increased by 13 percent, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through December 21, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports via the report of the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA).
Within 9 months, Iran produced 23.8 million tons of raw steel, while in the same period the last Iranian year, the country’s raw steel production amounted to over 21 million tons.
At the same time, approximately 16.6 million tons of steel products were produced in Iran during nine months, which is an increase of 12 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.
So, the figure stood at 14.7 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.
Furthermore, Iran produced 26.3 million tons of sponge iron in 9 months. This is an increase of 11 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, the country’s sponge iron production was about 23.8 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.
Reportedly, Iran's annual steel production capacity is around 40 million tons. Iran plans to increase the figure to 55 million tons by 2025.
