BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 30. Iran’s raw steel consumption increased by 17 percent, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through December 21, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports via the report of the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA).

According to the report, overall, Iran consumed about 18.6 million tons of raw steel in 9 months.

Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 15.9 million tons.

Within 9 months, billet and bloom consumption in Iran amounted to nearly 10.4 million tons, which is an increase of 15 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (9 million tons).

Moreover, the country’s slab consumption for the reporting period was 8.19 million tons. This is an increase of 19 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (6.9 million tons).

Iran also consumed approximately 14.8 million tons of steel products for nine months, which is an increase of 15 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (12.8 million tons).

At the same time, 25.7 million tons of sponge iron were consumed in Iran over 9 months, which is an increase of 17 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Thus, 22.9 million tons of sponge iron were consumed in the country in the same period of the last Iranian year.
