Iran’s cooking oil imports down

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 13. Iran’s cooking oil imports decreased by about 29 percent, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through January 20, 2023), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports citing the Iranian Vegetable Oil Industry Association’s website.

Within 10 months, a total of 1.17 million tons of cooking oil were imported to Iran.

Meanwhile, the volume of Iran’s cooking oil imports for the same period last Iranian year amounted to 1.64 million tons.

At the same time, about 2.12 million tons of oilseeds were imported to Iran in 10 months. This is an increase of 2 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure stood at 2.07 million tons during the first 10 months of the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021, through January 20, 2022).

In addition, Iran has 1.13 million tons of compressed soybeans over the mentioned period, which is a decrease of 46 percent compared to 2.09 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.

Generally, Iran imported 31 million tons of goods worth $48.5 billion within the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through January 20, 2023). This is an increase of 16.8 percent in value, while a decrease of 6 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.
