BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 14. Iran offers Kazakhstan's private sector investors to invest in the country's northern and southern ports, Iranian Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Head of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), Ali Akbar Safaei said, Trend reports citing the ministry.
He made the remark in a meeting with Kazakh Ambassador to Iran, Askhat Orazbay.
The deputy minister noted that the Kazakh private sector can operate as a contractor in port operations in the northern and southern ports of Iran.
Safaei also added that Iran will provide any support to Kazakh companies within the law on support for foreign investors.
According to him, the establishment of a regular shipping route between Iran and Kazakhstan in the Caspian Sea could contribute to economic development.
During the meeting, Kazakh Ambassador said that expert groups from Kazakhstan got closely acquainted with the opportunities of Iran's Amirabad and Shahid Rajaee ports during the past year. Currently, Kazakh companies are conducting research on investing in Iranian ports.
“Access to international waters is considered one of the important economic policies of Astana. Based on this, Kazakhstan wants to develop cooperation with Iran,” Orazbay pointed out.
Along with Iran, Kazakhstan seeks to maintain good relations with other regional countries, including Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, Orazbay noted.
In June 2022, nine cooperation documents were signed between Iran and Kazakhstan. Both countries plan to increase their annual trade turnover to $3 billion.
