BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 16. Iran's raw steel production increased by 11 percent, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through January 20, 2023), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports via the report of the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA).
Overall, Iran produced approximately 25.7 million tons of raw steel in 10 months. Meanwhile, the country’s raw steel output was 23.2 million tons in the same period the last Iranian year.
In addition, about 18.3 million tons of steel products were produced in Iran within 10 months, which is an increase of 11 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.
So, the figure stood at 16.4 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.
Also, Iran produced 27.5 million tons of sponge iron in 10 months. This is an increase of 7 percent compared to 25.8 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.
Reportedly, Iran's annual steel production capacity is around 40 million tons. Iran plans to increase the figure to 55 million tons by 2025.
