BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 20. The value of imports through customs of Iran’s East Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran), increased by 17 percent, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through January 20, 2023), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Customs Inspector of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province Leili Orangi told IRNA, Trend reports.

“In total, 346,000 tons of goods worth $1.08 billion were imported through the province’s customs in 10 months,” she said.

Orangi added that the imported goods were mainly vehicles, equipment and spare parts, electrical equipment and etc.

The customs official also pointed out that the goods were imported from 49 countries, mainly from Türkiye worth $627 million, the UAE worth $140 million, China worth $100 million, Germany worth $73 million, South Korea worth 21 million, Italy worth $16 million, Georgia worth $14 million, Spain worth $12 million, Japan $11 million, India worth $11 million and other countries worth $59 million.

In general, Iran imported 31 million tons of goods worth $48.5 billion within the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through January 20, 2023). This is an increase of 16.8 percent in value, while a decrease of 6 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.
