BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 7. Iran's raw steel exports decreased by 1 percent, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through January 20, 2023), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports via the report of the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA).

“Overall, Iran exported 5.75 million tons of raw steel within 10 months, while the figure stood at 5.8 million tons in the same period of the last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

During 10 months, Iran exported 4.36 million tons of billet and bloom, which is an increase of 11 percent compared to about 3.92 million tons in the same period of last Iranian year.

Iran also exported approximately 1.39 million tons of slabs for ten months, which is 27 percent less than in the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure was 1.89 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.

Moreover, Iran exported about 2.69 million tons of steel products within the mentioned period. This is a decrease of 2 percent compared to about 2.73 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.

At the same time, Iran exported 744,000 tons of sponge iron in 10 months, which is a decrease of 24 percent compared to 985,000 tons in the same period last Iranian year.

Reportedly, Iran's annual steel production capacity is around 40 million tons. Iran plans to increase the figure to 55 million tons by 2025.
