BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 13. Iran's raw steel exports increased by 60 percent in the 11th month of the current Iranian year (January 21 through February 19, 2023), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports citing Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

According to IMIDRO, Iran exported 865,000 tons of raw steel in the 11th month, while the figure stood at 541,000 tons in the same month of last Iranian year.

Within the 11th month, Iran exported 250,000 tons of steel products, which is an increase of 5 percent compared to 238,000 tons in the same month of last Iranian year.

Iran exported 844,000 tons of iron ore pellet export for the reporting month. This is 53 percent more than in the same month last Iranian year (550,000 tons).

At the same time, Iran exported 80,000 tons of iron ore concentrate for the 11th month of the current Iranian year, which is an increase of 60 percent compared to 50,000 tons in the same month last Iranian year.

Furthermore, 24,000 tons of sponge iron were exported from the country in the 11th month. This is a decrease of 79 percent compared to 115,000 tons in the same month last Iranian year.

Reportedly, Iran's annual steel production capacity is around 40 million tons. Iran plans to increase the figure to 55 million tons by 2025.
