BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 15. The volume of red meat produced in Iran for the 11th month of the current Iranian year (January 21 through February 19, 2023), decreased by 24 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of the Statistical Center of Iran (SCI).

In total, 38,974 tons of red meat were produced in Iran during the 11th month.

Thus, 20,563 tons of beef and veal were produced in the country for the reporting month, which accounts for 52.8 percent of Iran’s total red meat output.

Also, 14,986 tons of lamb and mutton were produced in Iran in the 11th month, which accounts for 38.4 percent of the total red output.

Within the 11th month, 2,554 tons of goat meat were produced countrywide, and account for 6.8 percent of the total red meat production.

In addition, 871 tons of other animal meat such as buffalo, camel, and so on were produced in Iran in the 11th month, which accounts for 2.2 percent of the total red meat out in Iran.

According to the statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture of Jihad Iran, the country produces an average of 1.2 million tons of red meat per year.

Currently, the price of 1 kg of mutton is around 2.1-3.95 million rials (about $50-$94) and 1 kg of beef and veal meat is around 1.8-3.15 million rials (about $42.8-$75).
