BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 29. Iran’s non-oil exports through Mehran customs in the Ilam Province (western Iran), increased by 39 percent in value and 44 percent in volume, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Director General of Ilam Province Customs Office Rouhollah Gholami told IRNA, Trend reports.

“In total, approximately 3.26 million tons of non-oil products worth about $1.6 billion were exported through Mehran customs within the last Iranian year, which is considered a record in the activity of customs,” he said.

The official added that the main exported goods were ceramics, metal products, vegetables, petrochemical products, cement, iron ore, rubber products, auto spare parts and etc.

According to Gholami, the mentioned goods were exported to various countries, mainly Iraq.

“Among the 12 customs on the border of Iran and Iraq, Mehran customs ranks first in terms of non-oil exports,” the director general stressed.

Iran’s Mehran customs is on the border with Iraq. The customs is located approximately 230 kilometers from Baghdad. By the end of the current Iranian year (20 March 2023), Iran is expected to export more than 3.5 million tons of non-oil products through the mentioned customs.
