BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 1. Iran’s domestic trucks and trailers production increased by 150 percent, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), as was reflected in the statistics of Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, Trend reports.
Overall, 34,136 trucks and trailers were manufactured in the country for the last Iranian year, while in the preceding year, the figure stood at 13,643.
Within the 12th month of the last Iranian year alone (February 20 through March 20, 2023), Iran produced 3,674 trucks and trailers domestically.
This is an increase of 113 percent compared to 1,727 units in the same month in the preceding year.
On average, Iran’s local trucks and trailers production capacity is 60,000 units per year.
Meanwhile, about 1.35 million various vehicles, including passenger cars, pick-ups, heavy trucks and trailers, vans, buses and minibusses, etc. were manufactured in Iran during the last Iranian year - an increase of 39 percent compared to about 971,000 in the preceding Iranian year.
Also, Iran manufactured about 113,000 various vehicles in the 12th month of the last Iranian year alone. This is an increase of 86 percent compared to 60,800 units in the same month of the preceding year.
There are three giant car manufacturing companies - Iran Khodro, Saipa, and Pars Khodro, operating in Iran. By implementing various projects, Iran intends to increase manufacturing in the auto industry.
