BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 17. Iran's kiwifruit exports increased by 9.37 percent in value and 8.2 percent in volume, during the first 11 months of the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through February 19, 2023), compared to the same period in the preceding year, Trend reports via the statistics of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).
According to the statistics, Iran exported about 179,000 tons of kiwifruit worth over $102 million in 11 months.
Meanwhile, in the same period of the preceding year, 165,000 tons of kiwifruit worth $93.6 million were exported from Iran.
Iranian kiwifruit was exported to 27 countries, mainly Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Russia, and others.
On average, 410,000 tons of kiwifruit are cultivated in Iran per year. Of this, 220,000 tons are cultivated in Gilan Province, 180,000 tons in Mazandaran Province, and the remaining 10,000 tons in other provinces. Iran exported half of the kiwifruit cultivated in the country.
Overall, Iran exported over 111 million tons of non-oil products worth $48.8 billion within the first 11 months of the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through February 19, 2023).
This is an increase of 12.2 percent in value, while a decrease of 1 percent in volume compared to the same period in the preceding Iranian year.
