Iran observes increase in employment rate in industrial, mining sectors

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 19. The employment rate in Iran's industrial and mining sectors increased by 4.1 percent for the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the plan, Trend reports via the statistics of the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour, and Social Welfare of Iran.

In total, 439,736 people were employed in the mining and industrial sectors in Iran within the last Iranian year.

Whereas, Iran planned to employ a total of 422,409 people in the industrial and mining sectors over the last year.

Among Iran’s provinces, the highest employment in the industrial and mining sectors was recorded - 75,051 people in Tehran Province, 44,099 people in Razavi Khorasan Province, and 32,855 people in Isfahan Province.

Overall, the number of people aged 15 and over in Iran was about 64.1 million during the winter season of the last Iranian year (December 22, 2022 through March 20, 2023). Of these, about 38.1 million, or 59.5 percent was considered inactive for economic activities, while 26 million or 40.5 percent - were considered active for economic activities.
