BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 30. The volume of red meat produced in Iran for the 12th month of the last Iranian year (February 20 through March 20, 2023), decreased by 16 percent compared to the same month in the preceding Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of the Statistical Center of Iran (SCI).

In total, 45,412 tons of red meat were produced in Iran during the 12th month.

Thus, 23,192 tons of beef and veal were produced in the country for the reporting month, which is a decrease of 19 percent compared to the same month in the preceding year.

Also, 18,289 tons of lamb and mutton were produced in Iran in the 12th month of the last Iranian year. This is a decrease of 16 percent compared to the same month in the preceding year.

Within the 12th month, 2,893 tons of goat meat were produced countrywide, which is a decrease of 4 percent compared to the same month in the preceding year.

In addition, 518 tons of buffalo and 520 tons of camel meat were produced in Iran in the 12th month, which is a decrease of 17 percent, and an increase of 16 percent, respectively, compared to the same month in the preceding year.

According to the statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture of Jihad Iran, the country produces an average of 1.2 million tons of red meat per year.

Currently, the price of 1 kg of mutton is around 3.1-5.1 million rials (about $73.8-$121), and 1 kg of beef and veal meat is around 3.5-5.3 million rials (about $83-$126).
