Iran sees increase in fishery exports/imports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 3. Iran's export of fish and related products increased by 8.8 percent in value and 9 percent in volume for the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), an official of Iran Fisheries Organization Abbas Mokhtari told IRNA, Trend reports.

Overall, Iran exported 181,000 tons of fish and related products worth more than $605 million in the last Iranian year, according to Mokhtari.

“In addition, Iran imported 12,500 tons of fish and fishery products worth $40 million. This is an increase of 21 percent in value and 3.9 percent in volume compared to the preceding year,” the official added.

Overall, Iran exported more than 122 million tons of non-oil products worth approximately $53.2 billion over the last Iranian year, which increased by 10 percent in value, while it did not change in volume compared to the preceding year.

At the same time, Iran imported a total of 37.1 million tons of goods worth approximately $59.7 billion for the last Iranian year, which is an increase of 13 percent in volume, while a decrease of 10 percent in volume compared to the preceding year.

Meanwhile, Iran's total non-oil trade turnover amounted to over 159 million tons worth approximately $113 billion. The trade turnover increased by 11.2 percent in value compared to the preceding year.
