Volume of imports via Iran's Mazandaran Province's ports almost triples

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 4. The volume of goods imported through the ports of Iran’s Mazandaran Province in the north of the country, increased by 187 percent, during the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), compared to the same month in the last year, Director of International Transit and Transport Department of Mazandaran Province, Mohammad Bakeri said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

As reported, there are a total of 3 ports operating in Iran's Mazandaran Province - Noshahr, Fereidoonkenar and Amirabad ports.

Bakeri said that more than 279,000 tons of goods were imported through the ports of Mazandaran Province for the 1st month.

He added that the main imported goods were mainly corn feed, barley feed, wheat, petroleum coke and etc.

According to the director, a total of 86,000 tons of various products from Mazandaran Province were exported to surrounding countries in the 1st month. This is an increase of 45 percent in volume compared to the same month in the last year. Cement, mining minerals, and dairy products were the main goods exported from the province.

“Within the 1st month, more than 10,000 tons of cargo were transited through Iran’s Mazandaran Province,” Bakeri noted.

Overall, Iran exported about 10.5 million tons of non-oil products worth approximately $3.65 billion for the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023).

This is a decrease of 12.9 percent in value, while an increase of 17.7 percent in volume compared to the same month in the last year.

Meanwhile, Iran imported 1.83 million tons of goods worth $3.08 billion for the 1st month. The imports decreased by 13 percent in value and 24.8 percent in volume compared to the same month in the last year.
