Volume of Iran's mining exports increases by over half - IMIDRO

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 9. Iran’s mining exports increased by 12 percent in value and 55 percent in volume, during the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), compared to the same month in the last year, Trend reports citing Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

Within the 1st month, Iran exported a total of 4.69 million tons of mining products worth approximately $952 million.

So, Iran mainly exported raw steel and steel products worth $491 million, iron ore worth $125 million, copper and related products worth $58.4 million, coal worth $42.8 million, as well as zinc worth $35.2 million, iron ore concentrate worth $34 million, cement worth $27 million and aluminum $22.8 million during the reporting month.

Furthermore, 281,000 tons of mining products worth approximately $301 million were imported to Iran in the 1st month. This is an increase of 55 percent in value and 19 percent in volume compared to the same month in the last Iranian year.

Meanwhile, in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), the companies operating in Iran’s mining industry exported about 48.7 million tons of goods worth over $12.2 billion.

Overall, Iran exported about 10.5 million tons of non-oil products worth approximately $3.65 billion for the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023).

This is a decrease of 12.9 percent in value, while an increase of 17.7 percent in volume compared to the same month in the last year.
