BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23. Iran's raw steel exports decreased by 0.78 percent, during the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), compared to the same month in the last year, Trend reports via the report of the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA).
Within the 1st month, Iran exported 631,000 tons of raw steel, while the figure stood at 636,000 tons in the same month of the last Iranian year.
So, Iran exported 451,000 tons of billet and bloom, which is a decrease of 22.3 percent compared to 581,000 tons in the same month of last Iranian year.
Iran also exported 180,000 tons of slabs for the first month, which is 227 percent more than in the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure was 55,000 tons in the same month last year.
Moreover, Iran exported 220,000 tons of steel products within the mentioned period. This is an increase of 19.5 percent compared to 184,000 tons in the same month in the last year.
At the same time, Iran exported 50,000 tons of sponge iron in the 1st month, which is an increase of 50 times compared to 1,000 tons in the same month last Iranian year.
Reportedly, Iran's annual steel production capacity is around 40 million tons. Iran plans to increase the figure to 55 million tons by 2025.
