Iran’s poultry output down by over 25%

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23. Iran’s poultry output decreased by 27.1 percent for the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), compared to the same month in the last year, Trend reports.

Overall, 147,370 tons of poultry meat were produced in Iran in the 1st month.

Meanwhile, as the data of Statistical Center of Iran (SCI) shows, in the same month of last Iranian year, the figure stood at 202,246 tons.

During the 1st month, 143,155 tons of chicken meat were produced in the country, which is a decrease of 27.3 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.

Also, 1,240 tons of turkey meat were produced in the country within the first month. Iran’s turkey meat output decreased by 32.7 percent compared to the same month in the last Iranian year.

At the same time, Iran produced 79 tons of quail meat for the reporting period. This is a decrease of 50 percent compared to the same month in the last year.

Along with all these, 75 tons of ostrich meat were produced in Iran in the 1st month, which is a decrease of 21.8 percent compared to the same month of last Iranian year.

In the 1st month, the production of other poultry meat in the country amounted to 2,821 tons. This is a decrease of 7.47 percent compared to the same month in the last year.

Currently, the price of 1 kg of chicken meat in Iran is around 400,000 rials (approximately $9.52 according to the official exchange rate).
