Iranian banks lend nearly $840M for agriculture sector dev't

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 12. Iranian banks provided loans worth 35.2 trillion rials (about $839 million) to 17,031 farmers in Iran’s Qazvin Province in the north of the country, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Deputy Director of Qazvin Province Agricultural Department, Hamid Reza Tabassomi said, Trend reports.

According to Tabassomi, in total, the names of 18,350 farmers were announced by the Qazvin Province Agricultural Department to the local banks for issuance of loans of 56.6 trillion rials (about $1.35 billion).

The deputy director added that the loans were provided for the development of greenhouses, the purchase of equipment, the development of animal husbandry and poultry farming, etc.

He also noted that the largest amount of loans - 9.92 trillion rials (about $236 million) - was given in Abyek County of the province. The loans were issued to 4,069 people.

Meanwhile, Iranian banks provided loans worth approximately 2.8 quadrillion rials (about $66.6 billion) in the country’s agricultural sector for the last Iranian year.
