BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 18. Some 10 cooperation documents were signed between Iran and Uzbekistan in Tehran, on June 18, 2023, Trend reports.
According to the report, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the statement of the presidents of the two countries on strengthening the cooperation between the two countries.
The relevant officials of Iran and Uzbekistan signed documents on cooperation in the fields of preferential trade agreement, transport and transit, healthcare, standardization, and insurance.
Also, a cooperation document was signed to explore the possibility of establishing joint trade zones between the two countries.
Along with all these, officials of both countries signed a document on executive program on cooperation in the field of innovation and technology, and a document on executive program on cooperation in the field of agriculture.
In total, Iran's non-oil trade turnover with Uzbekistan amounted to 445,000 tons worth $362 million in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023). This is a decrease of 29.9 percent in value and 42.6 percent in volume compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
Iran intends to increase its non-oil trade turnover with Uzbekistan from about $400 million to $1 billion a year.
