BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 20. Iron ore reserves of Iran's Sabanour Mining and Industrial Development Company increased by 2 times, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022), CEO of the company, Mohammad Kalantari said, Trend reports.
According to Kalantari, the iron ore reserves of the company increased from 50 million tons to 130 million tons.
He added that this increase was achieved as a result of the company's mining operations in several provinces.
The CEO noted that at present, the company's iron ore pellet production plant is under construction in Iran’s Kurdistan Province. So far, 7.2 trillion rials (about $171 million) have been spent on the construction of this plant, and another 13 trillion rials (about $310 million) are expected to be spent. There is currently 41 percent physical progress in the construction of the mentioned plant. The production capacity of this plant is 920,000 tons annually.
“In addition, Sabanour Mining and Industrial Development Company is building an iron ore concentrate production plant in Hamadan Province. This plant can produce 2 million tons of iron ore concentrate per year. The plant is expected to be launched in 2025. A total of 75 trillion rials (about $1.79 billion) is estimated to be spent on the plant,” Kalantari said.
The Sabanour Mining and Industrial Development Company of Iran was established in 1996. This company currently has 2 mines in Iran's Kurdistan Province and 1 in Hamadan Province.
