BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 31. In Iran, the production of various vehicles (including passenger cars, pick-up trucks, buses and minibuses, vans, lorries and trailers, and so on) climbed by 30 percent during the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through July 22, 2023), compared to the same period the previous year, Trend reports.
As indicated in the report of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran, a total of 442,686 various vehicles were produced in Iran for 4 months.
Meanwhile, in the same period of last Iranian year, the figure stood at 340,005.
In the 4th month of the current Iranian year alone (June 22 through July 22, 2023), 121,659 various vehicles were manufactured in the country. This is an increase of 29 percent compared to 94,387 units in the same month of last Iranian year.
Overall, approximately 1.35 million vehicles, including passenger cars, pick-up trucks, heavy trucks and trailers, vans, buses and minibuses, and so on, were manufactured in Iran during the previous Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), a 39 percent increase over the previous year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
There are three giant car manufacturing companies - Iran Khodro, Saipa, and Pars Khodro, operating in Iran. By implementing various projects, Iran intends to increase manufacturing in the auto industry.
