BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 9. Iran's raw steel exports increased by 24.9 percent during the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through July 22, 2023), compared to the same period in the last year, Trend reports.
As stated in the report of the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA), Iran exported 2.76 million tons of raw steel for 4 months.
Meanwhile, the figure stood at 2.21 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.
So, Iran exported 1.89 million tons of billet and bloom within 4 months. This is an increase of 22.1 percent compared to 1.55 million tons in the same period last year.
At the same time, Iran exported 868,000 tons of slabs for 4 months, which is 31.3 percent more than in the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure was 661,000 tons in the same period in the last Iranian year.
Moreover, Iran exported approximately 1.09 million tons of steel products over the mentioned period. This is an increase of 23.9 percent compared to 876,000 tons in the same period last Iranian year.
Along with all these, Iran exported 580,000 tons of sponge iron in 4 months, which is an increase of 249 percent compared to 166,000 tons in the same period of the last Iranian year.
Reportedly, Iran's annual steel production capacity is around 40 million tons. Iran plans to increase the figure to 55 million tons by 2025.
