BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 15. Iran's raw steel output increased by 8.23 percent, during the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through July 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
As indicated in the data of Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA), Iran produced some 11.5 million tons of raw steel for 4 months.
Meanwhile, in the same period of the last Iranian year, this figure stood at nearly 10.6 million tons.
Furthermore, 7.82 million tons of steel products were manufactured in Iran within 4 months. This is an increase of 5.3 percent compared to 6.29 million tons in the same period in the last Iranian year.
At the same time, Iran produced approximately 13 million tons of sponge iron in 4 months, which is an increase of 5.6 percent compared to 12.3 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.
Reportedly, Iran's annual steel production capacity is around 40 million tons. Iran plans to increase the figure to 55 million tons by 2025.
