BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 12. More than 1 million tons of non-oil products worth $560 million were exported through the customs of Iran’s East Azerbaijan Province in the north-west of the country, during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), Customs Inspector of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province Leili Orangi said, Trend reports.
The official noted that the non-oil exports via the province's customs for the reporting period increased by 18 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year, but did not change in value.
“The province exported non-oil products to 90 countries through its customs. The main destinations and their export values were: Türkiye ($162 million), Iraq ($131 million), Bulgaria ($25 million), Georgia ($23 million), Azerbaijan ($20 million), Russia ($16 million), Afghanistan ($15 million), Pakistan ($14 million), and the UAE ($14 million),” Orangi said.
She said the main goods exported via the province’s customs were petroleum products, steel products, agricultural and food products, including dates, pistachios, raisins, etc.
Iran's non-oil exports exclude only crude oil, mazut, and white oil. Due to imposed sanctions, Iran cannot freely export the mentioned products. That’s why it attaches importance to the export of non-oil products.
Overall, Iran exported 55.9 million tons of non-oil products worth $19.3 billion during the first five months of the current Iranian year. This is an increase of 26.5 percent in value and a decrease of 8.55 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
