Budget revenues of Iran’s North Khorasan Province rise by over half

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 16. The budget revenues of Iran’s North Khorasan Province in the north-east of the country, increased by 54 percent, during the first 5 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), compared with the same time last year, said Morteza Behzadfar, director of the Plan and Budget Organization of Iran’s branch in North Khorasan Province, Trend reports.

According to Behzadfar, the budget revenues of North Khorasan Province stood at 9.36 trillion rials (about $223 million) in 5 months.

He added that the main part of the province's budget revenues was made up of tax revenues.

“In general, the province’s budget revenues are expected to be 213 trillion rials (about $508 million) in the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024),” he said.

Meanwhile, 75 trillion rials (about $1.78 billion) is planned for the budget expenditures of Iran's North Khorasan Province for the current Iranian year.

North Khorasan Province of Iran has a strong industrial sector, with around 400 enterprises that employ 11,000 people. It is the 10th most industrialized province among the 31 provinces of the country. The main source of income for this province is the export of petrochemical products.

Overall, tax revenues in Iran for the first five months of the current Iranian year amounted to 2.82 quadrillion rials (about $67.2 billion), representing a 52 percent growth from the same period previous year.
