Iran’s Sangan Mining Industries Company expands iron ore concentrate output

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 10. Iron ore concentrate output of Iran’s Sangan Mining Industries Company increased by 67 percent, in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports.

According to the company’s data, the Sangan Mining Industries Company produced a total of 2.1 million tons of iron ore concentrate in 6 months.

In contrast, the company’s iron ore concentrate production was 1.26 million tons in the same period last year.

Sangan Mining Industries Company achieved 99 percent of its production plan in 6 months.

Due to high electricity consumption in the country during the summer months, electricity supply to the company was cut off for 17 days.

Moreover, the company’s factories did not produce products for 4 days due to various repairs.

Iran’s Sangan Mining Industries Company has been operating near the Sangan Iron Ore Complex in the Razavi Khorasan Province since 2015. This company has the capacity to produce 5 million tons of iron ore pellets and iron ore concentrate per year.

The Sangan Iron Ore Complex operates under the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO). There are 7 mines in the complex. The Sangan Complex is regarded as one of the 10 largest iron ore fields in the world. The complex has 1 billion tons of iron ore reserves.
