BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 17. Iran’s North Khorasan Province, located in the north-east of the country, exported $79 million worth of non-oil products weighing 274,000 tons in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), Chairman of Industry, Mine, and Trade Organization of North Khorasan Province Hossein Hajibegloo said, Trend reports.
The chairman said that the value of the non-oil exports from the province dropped by 30 percent while the volume increased by 30 percent compared to the same period last year.
Hajibegloo also mentioned that petrochemical products made up 85 percent of the exports from the province. The main reason for the decline in the value of the non-oil exports from the province was the fall in the price of petrochemical products in global markets, he added.
He further stated that steel, cement, aluminum, and other products were also exported from the province.
Hajibegloo revealed that the main destinations for the province’s exports were Iraq, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Russia, and others.
Overall, Iran exported 67.7 million tons of non-oil products worth over $24.1 billion in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023). This is an increase of 2.62 percent in value and a decrease of 29 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
Iran’s non-oil exports do not include crude oil, mazut, and white oil. Iran cannot export these products freely because of the sanctions imposed on it. That is why it focuses on exporting non-oil products.
